Community Mural Project Initiative

We are excited to introduce our Community Mural Project Initiative, created to provide students with meaningful extracurricular opportunities through real community-based art projects. Through these projects, students will gain hands-on experience while contributing positively to local businesses and neighborhoods. Students will work under professional guidance to design and paint murals using acrylic paint, learning about collaboration, public art, and community engagement.

  • • Medium: Acrylic painting
  • • Work sessions: Sundays
  • • Supervised by professional artist Joie Lee

Participant Priority & Cost

My child has been attending Joie's studio for some time now, and the experience has been truly wonderful. Ms. Joie is very patient, creative, and very encouraging, which has helped my child gain both confidence and new skills in art. I've noticed a big improvement in creativity, attention to detail, and expression. The classes are well-structured but still leave plenty of room for imagination and experimentation. What I love most is how every child's unique style is appreciated and nurtured. My child looks forward to every session, and as a parent, it makes me so happy to see that excitement. I would highly recommend Joie's Art Studio to any parent looking to give their child a space to explore and grow through art.

I attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and entered with a Merit Scholarship thanks to Mrs. Joie's help on my portfolio. Mrs. Joie was my art teacher for 9 years. She is very kind but confident and stern when she needed to be, and has an original mind. She is perfect for art classes for young children as well as adults and teenagers. She appreciates hard work and has an eye for talent!

Mrs. Joie is amazing to work with because she understands how to accommodate for her student's needs and wants. This is a great studio for all ages if you have a goal in art like improving a skill or practicing a medium. I was admitted into the best art colleges with scholarships because of the portfolio prep classes I took here! Only fun memories at this studio— highly recommend!!

Last year, when my son was preparing for college, he took portfolio lessons with Ms. Joie. Now, he is a freshman at a top-tier art university in New York. From the moment I met Ms. Joie, I could sense her immense passion for art as an artist. As an educator, she deeply understands each student's personality and talents, and she is dedicated to bringing out their full potential. She instilled confidence in my son, who was once fearful of the future, with endless positivity and encouragement. Thanks to her, my son was able to start his successful college journey. Now, during his first winter break after entering college, he returned to Texas and met with Ms. Joie again today. Even after all this time, she continues to be an excellent mentor for my son. Ms. Joie is truly the best teacher. Thank you, Ms. Joie.

Ms. Joie was very kind and knowledgeable in her field and experience. Her guidance gave me the tools to make a college portfolio yet learn so much still (as much as a stressful teen can tolerate of course). I recommend anyone who has a passion for the arts and is willing to show it to get some help from someone like Ms. Joie.

Loved my experience with Mrs. Joie! I'm now a first year at UT Austin, and she helped me build my portfolio for a BFA Studio Art major. She encouraged me to create work that didn't just allow me to explore new materials and techniques, but also find my own artistic style. Highly recommend Mrs. Joie for anybody looking to expand their artistic skill set!

Jane Song

Ms. Joie is passionate and genuine in the way she treats her students and teaches them. As a current student, Ms. Joie has helped me for multiple years to improve my skills in art significantly as well as guide me to find a path and a specific major I enjoy and want to pursue. I recommend her as a teacher if you are looking to pursue art and need help building a strong portfolio for your art career!

You can tell how much Mrs. Joie cares about her students in the way she teaches. She's very encouraging and supportive of all her students, helping them in the best way possible to grow them as artists. As a former student, I would recommend to trust her expertise when it comes to evolving your passion for art!

Junhye Min

Under the guidance of our instructor, the student was accepted to top universities with significant scholarships. Despite starting art later than most, they achieved outstanding results through dedicated mentorship and expert instruction. With trust and commitment, strong admissions outcomes are achievable.

Ms. Joie is such a creative, enthusiastic, experienced artist and teacher who has inspired my daughter since she was in third grade. Getting Ms. Joie's classes for many years, my daughter discovered true happiness of expressing herself and finally decided to pursue her dream through art. Now she is majoring art in college, experimenting of new ideas. Ms. Joie recognizes each student's potential almost immediately and guides them individually, respecting their own interest. As I took her adult classes as well, I know learning from her is a delightful, eye-opening experience. I highly recommend her studio, where a wide range of possibilities and love for art grow.

This art studio is conveniently located and easy to find. From the student's workstations, large windows offer views of green trees that soothe your eyes and minds. The professional instructor, Ms. Joie provides kind consultations and she teaches the students with the care and attention of a mother. I have already recommended this studio to my friends!

Joie is an incredible artist and teacher. With over 20 years of experience instructing students of all ages, she has created a truly unique curriculum. She helps students uncover their talents and flourish as artists. She taught all three of my children, introducing them to the wonderful world of art. Through various projects, they were always inspired to embrace the process and express creativity in art. I had the opportunity to take an adult class with her. Having never received formal art lessons before, I was amazed at my progress. Within year and half, with her encouragement, I completed several watercolor painting projects, won some art awards, and participated in two group art exhibits with my classmates. Her enthusiastic passion for teaching is truly inspirational.
